The largest international incentive travel fair in Europe, IMEX, is held annually in Frankfurt am Main. It is one of the fastest growing forms of tourism today. The word “incentive” comes from English and can be translated as a stimulus or incentive. From this, the essence of the whole name can be deduced – it is an important motivation tool when companies or societies reward their employees or business partners with interesting trips with a program implemented in Slovakia and abroad. This year, over 4,500 global business travel planners met with almost 3,100 suppliers from all over the world at IMEX. They built working relationships with each other with the aim of creating and offering better events, meetings and experiences to companies and firms.

IMEX is a place where you can travel the world in one day, immerse yourself in the latest developments in incentive tourism ideas and find yourself at the center of the global business events community. After a two-year break, I attended this event as a sommelier and oenologist and, thanks to the cooperation with SLOVAKIA TRAVEL, I professionally conveyed to the visitors of our stand the experiences they can look forward to when organizing MICE events in Slovakia.

The term MICE tourism (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) refers to a specific type of business tourism, within which organized groups, usually planned well in advance, convene for professional, commercial or networking purposes. The MICE sector is a fundamental part of the “event industry” and encompasses a wide range of activities such as conferences, congresses, forums, summits, exhibitions, fairs, seminars, symposiums, workshops, product launches, board meetings, shareholder meetings, management meetings, incentive programs, employee recognition events, corporate or organizational milestone celebrations, and team building initiatives. According to Allied Market Research, the global MICE market is expected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2031, with a year-on-year growth of 6.6%. That is why it is very important to be part of this networking, to professionally and systematically establish Slovakia in the international corporate events network, for example through quality wine, wine tourism, and small congress tourism.

By implementing experiential events and business trips in conjunction with the beautiful nature, vineyards and culinary specialties of our region in the heart of Europe, we will contribute to building better interpersonal relationships in the world, strengthen our own economy and the benefits of entrepreneurship, without which these services or products could not be produced and implemented with professionally targeted marketing.
